Kartina Tahir Thomson is a distinguished business professional with over 25 years of expertise in actuarial science, risk management, governance, and regulatory affairs. She currently serves as a Senior Director at Willis Towers Watson (WTW), one of the world’s largest insurance consultancies, where she leads the risk, regulation, and governance proposition. In July 2024, Kartina made history as the first Malaysian to be appointed President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). In this role, she is dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for actuaries, championing collaboration and inclusivity to enhance the profession’s global influence.

As a subject matter expert in UK and European insurance regulation, Kartina advises firms on resolving their regulatory issues and adding business value by helping boards in their decision-making. She has held several senior leadership roles across the actuarial profession and financial services sector. Her previous positions include Chair of the Risk Committee at Dignity PLC, Director of Financial Services Risk & Regulation at PwC UK, General Insurance Risk Specialist and Senior Staff Member at the Bank of England, Chief Risk Officer at Navigators Underwriting Agency, and Senior Vice President at Marsh. Beyond her corporate career, she has been deeply engaged in the actuarial profession serving on the IFoA Council for seven years, as Chair of the IFoA Foundation for three years, and as a Board Director of the Actuarial Association of Europe for four years.

Head of Campus France Sri Lanka

Ms. Anaïs Delbarre works as an attaché for educational, academic, and scientific cooperation at the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives in Colombo. She also works for Campus France Sri Lanka, a French public agency that advises foreign students on studying in France. Campus France Sri Lanka is located in the Alliance Française de Colombo. Ms. Delbarre graduated from Université Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne in 2013 with a degree in international relations. She has worked at French universities, the French National Center for Scientific Research, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris.
