Dr Ramesh Sonti
Director, ICGEB, New Delhi Component
Dr. Ramesh Venkata Sonti is a distinguished biotechnologist renowned for his contributions to plant-microbe interactions. He completed his BSc at Andhra University in 1980, followed by an MSc and MPhil in Plant Sciences from the University of Hyderabad. He earned his PhD in bacterial genetics from the University of Utah in 1990 and conducted postdoctoral research in plant genetics at MIT from 1991 to 1993. Since January 2023, he has been serving as the Director of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in New Delhi component and group leader -Plant microbe interactions. His current research focuses on plant-microbe intercations based on the model bacterial pathogen, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae.

Professor Marc Stadler
Head of Research Department “Microbial Drugs” at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Germany
Professor Stadler is the Head of Research Department “Microbial Drugs” at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Germany and is a globally recognized expert in industrial microbiology, mycology and natural product chemistry. He studied biology at the University of Kaiserslautern and received his PhD in 1993. After a post-doctoral stay funded by the DFG at University of Lund/Sweden in natural product chemistry, he joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1995 and worked in the natural products department of Bayer Healthcare (Pharma Division). Professor Stadler currently has an h-index of 77 and over 30,000 citations to his work. He is the current President of the International Mycological Association (IMA).
